Bluetooth
No ANT+ stick? The trainer, a heart-rate strap and a power meter can each connect over your PC's Bluetooth instead.
New and not yet tried with real devices. Bluetooth was tested against a simulated Bluetooth stack. ANT+ remains the default.
What you need
- A trainer that supports FTMS (Fitness Machine Service). Most current smart trainers do.
- Optionally, a Bluetooth heart-rate strap or power meter (Cycling Power).
- Windows 10 or 11, and a Bluetooth 4.0 (LE) adapter, built in or a USB dongle.
Setting it up
- Pair the device with Windows. Pedal to wake the trainer, then open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth and pick it. The mod only sees paired devices.
- Switch it on in
RDR2BikeMod.ini:
The same[Trainer] Connection = Bluetooth ; with several paired trainers, part of the right one's name: BluetoothName = DIRETOConnectionkey is in[PowerMeter]and[HeartRate].
Good to know
- One app at a time. A Bluetooth trainer takes commands from one app only. Close Zwift, the trainer maker's app, or a bike computer connected to it over Bluetooth first.
- Mix and match. Each sensor can use either connection, so an ANT+ trainer with a Bluetooth heart-rate strap works too.
- The same riding. The slope goes to the trainer with the same rules as over ANT+, and the trainer is set back to flat when the mod stops.
If it doesn't connect
| The panel says | What to try |
|---|---|
Bluetooth: not available | The PC has no Bluetooth adapter, or it is switched off. The log says which. |
Trainer: looking for it (Bluetooth)... | Pair the trainer in Windows first: it must be listed under Settings → Bluetooth & devices. Pedal to wake it. Close other apps connected to it. If you set BluetoothName, check the spelling. |
(no slope mode) after the trainer's name | The trainer says it can't simulate slopes over Bluetooth. Try ANT+ if it has it. |
